Ventajas: As per usual, Cathay’s service was top notch. Friendly, courteous crew, good food, a great entertainment system with a great selection. This particular flight was very smooth and, as it was only around 65% full, I was able to stretch out and get some sleep.
Ventajas: Reasonable leg room in the economy
Desventajas: Flight was delayed for 2 hours I could not take on board by carry on luggage because it weighted 10kg. Food service was poor and not well organized
Ventajas: Food was mediocre and passable.
Desventajas: Rude behavior of Cathay Pacific Staff
Ventajas: My cabin bag got lost and theres no way to track it. Complete outrageous.
Desventajas: Everything. Worst experience of my life
Ventajas: Service, Luggage handling
Desventajas: Flight was delayed, Boarding was haphazard, Food was ok at best
Ventajas: It was cheap, had a pretty good selection of movies, was able to choose my seat.
Desventajas: The food was pretty mediocre, staff was pretty stingy with drinks, ran out of drink choices, not that comfortable seats for a 15 hour flight, most of the staff was pretty rude to non Chinese customers. You get what you pay for.
Ventajas: Courteous and helpful crew. China Eastern served QingDao (Tsingtao) beer, quite good, German recipe from the 19th century.
Desventajas: The menu was ok but I’ve had better on an Intnl flight. The plane seemed to be short a bathroom, only 3 in the economy cabin. The flight was not close to full but one bathroom wasn’t kept clean.
Desventajas: staffs are rude, unfriendly
Ventajas: The only positive thing to say is that the flight was on time.
Desventajas: * Failure at communication: At check-in we were told that they cannot route the luggage to the final destination (Shanghai). We will have to fetch the luggage from the luggage belt and check it in again at Chengdu airport from scratch. Also it was not possible to get the boarding pass for this flight online and select seats. This was brand new information for us. Nor China Southern, nor KLM nor Kayak did inform us about this at anytime. This never happened to us and if we knew in advance we would not have booked this connection (one in Amsterdam and one in Chengdu). Passengers need to be informed about this! Some people mentioned this is Chinese state policy, still not sure about this though. * Horrible transfer experience: In summary we were on ourselves, information was absent or just plain wrong by the ground staff at Chengdu airport. Which resultet in us queuing in 3 different lanes. Even in the first lane we queued, following official signs for transfer, the first staff told us we can queue here but then the lady at the counter (after 30min queueing) told us to go somewhere else instead. We had to wait in the rain to take a shuttle bus to another terminal. There we then queued at a China Southern counter, but it turned out to be incompatible with our ticket (booked with China Southern but operated by China Eastern - not communicated to us). Hence we queued yet again at a China Eastern counter which was eventually the correct one. Common to all this was the negative attitude of all staff which basically didn't care at all and were just incompetent. Note that this was not a language issue, as one of us is fluent in Chinese. * Once boarded the plane, which was 25% full, we were even disallowed to change seats due to "weight balance issue" (which seems to be just a joke given the weight of the airplane itself...). Note that the check-in agent explicitely told that because the plane is half-full we can just freely select an empty seat - yet another false information. * Conclusion: 1. Transparent information is they key for making a booking decision. 2. Do not fly via Chengdu airport. This will just ruin your trip. This airport is not ready to serve as international transfer spot.
