Ventajas: Excellent dinner, especially with Sake pairing
Ventajas: Wonderful, helpful staff who were very accommodating with excellent and generous service and good English from owner who is also a knowledgeable sommelier. Beautiful location with garden views and very peaceful but short drive to Matsudai station. Small hotel and great onsen experience at matsunoyama. Meals that are included are expertly prepared in kaiseki style and wonderful sampling for local ingredients.
Desventajas: No complaints
Ventajas: Our stay at Sake Hotel Tamakiya was amazing. The facilities were top notch, but the staff was what made our experience one of the best we've ever had. It totally made our trip. Yuki and the others did an outstanding job at accommodating us. Yuki went above and beyond by giving us her cell phone number in case we had trouble communicating while we were out. As well as arranging a taxi from the station and even our laundry as a special exception! We stayed in a room with a private onsen bath and it was incredible to come back from a long day of skiing to a soak in a hot bath while watching the snow fall. The bed and living area were also cozy and very clean. The surrounding area was also beautiful with snow covered mountains.
Ventajas: Amazing place to stay. Lovely staff. Beautiful location. Great food. Stayed in winter with the snow!

Ventajas: Spectacular view of the mountains, wonderful outdoor bath, helpful staff
Ventajas: View from the onsen is so good.
6,8 Muy bueno
Ventajas: Onsen was amazing, beautiful views.
Desventajas: Our room had a strange smell, cigarette smoke and another odd smell.

7,5 Muy bueno
Ventajas: The place was beautiful and the staff friendly.
Desventajas: No pick up was available
Ventajas: Kanai and Yanagi were incredibly patient and kind to me during the stay. My Japanese is quite poor and they went above and beyond to help me get what I needed.
Desventajas: It’s great!
Ventajas: Clean and spacious
Ventajas: The view from the hot bath was awesome in the true sense of the word. There is nothing like relaxing and watching steam rise from the bath while in the distance you can see snow on the mountains.
Ventajas: What a gorgeous hidden gem in the mountains. I've never seen so much snow in my life..my boyfriend and I stayed in January, right in the middle of heavy heavy snow and this place has the BEST views for it. We were in awe of how magical everything felt there. The view out our window was just white snow powdered over everything..just breathtaking. The outdoor onsens (gender separated) had AMAZING gorgeous views of the valley and mountains, which are all white with snow (you have to wait for the steam to move a little to see much though). Shampoos/face products all available to use inside the onsen, and they have some incredible products! The actual hotel is very clean and well maintained, huge glass walls surrounding the outside so you always have a great view as you walk to your room. It was so warm and cozy. There are souvenir shops and lots of things for sale in the hotel, too. Staff is very friendly and helpful, they picked us up from Matsudai station, drove us to the nearby ski fields, picked us up from the ski fields, and even dropped us back off at the train station when we checked out. All for no price and no fuss, they are just the loveliest people! Breakfast was traditional and delicious, and all ready and waiting for us when we walked in the breakfast room. Maybe it was just the time of year we stayed, but the place was nearly empty, so my boyfriend and I always had the whole outdoor onsens to ourselves! It was such an incredible, relaxing experience. I recommend everyone stay at this place if they are able, preferably in winter. The whole area surrounding this place is blanketed in thick snow, it is like out of a fairytale.
Desventajas: The location is quite..remote. We came from Kyoto, so had to journey 8 hours via MANY bullet trains/local trains..through mountains, remote train tracks with only one other passenger for 2 hours..it got sooo remote at one point we wondered if we were even going in the right direction lol BUT if you are coming from Tokyo, it is only just over 2 hours, there is a much easier route. But do be warned, plan the route well first. It is quite remote and hard to access, especially in winter with thick snow and trains running etc. But the staff were so kind to pick us up late at night from the nearest train station for free. They will help you as best they can. Bear in mind we wasted our whole first day at the onsen travelling, we arrived at night depsite leaving at 10 am :( In the end, the journey is worth it though, because it is so beautiful! :)
