ACE doesn't rent cars in Italia, no info on this. Ventajas: Little Fiat was nice, workers at Rhodium were niceDesventajas: Many upcharges on the rental. The biggest problem though was that ACE does not rent cars in Italy, they use Rhodium. This information is not listed anywhere however and it took us nearly 2 hours to figure that out. I'm very disappointed that KAYAK did not inform us of this....and customer service when I called had no idea.

Ventajas: The customer service in Florence was excellent. She upgraded our car without charge. Desventajas: The dropoff location in Rome led us to the middle of a random parking lot on the outskirts of Rome. We put the address in Google Maps and in the GPS in the car. Wasted 3 hours trying to figure out where to take it. Very frustrating.

Desventajas: I was expecting to rent an Audi A3 manual convertible or equivalent, but when I arrived at the pickup, the only car available was a Fiat automatic convertible. I find it a leap to say these cars are equivalent. The trip was to tour though Tuscany mountainside. The little Fiat automatic was not up to the challenge and not what I was expecting.

Staff was helpful and apologized about the waiting times - evidently this wasn't a new issue.Desventajas: Waited about 1h45 to pick up the car due to insane queues, and another solid half-hour to return it. I was due for a pick-up at 11 am, ended up leaving at 1 pm.

Terrible Drop-off experienceDesventajas: We had to drop off the car in Florence very early in the morning. The area where car rental/dropoff is done at Florence airport was very hard to find, it was extremely dark (poorly lit) and then we couldn't figure out where the keys needed to be dropped off with no one there at that time. We finally found the key drop-off but then were really not sure if/where a bus would come to pick us up to get to the airport but eventually one came. In the rush and dark, I forgot a pair of sunglasses and some wires that go to my personal GPS in the car. I called the Florence Avis and a women has emailed to try to find my items but it's been over a week now and I'm pretty certain I will not get them back. I'm disappointed that my items haven't been found/returned, but with the drop-off experience I'm not surprised / fully expect the items were stolen or lost for good.
Terrible experience Desventajas: They charge you hidden fees. When I went there to complain I was terribly insulted. I do not recommend for anyone.

We were charged for damage to the car that we didn’t causeDesventajas: We were treated poorly from the beginning. We had no problems while the car was out and returned it after hours as was explained we could do. Within 24 hrs they charged us for 193euros in damages and have been unresponsive about what the damages are and have not allowed us to see the car or pictures of the supposed damage. No body at the rental counter is apparently qualified to help.
Very well organisedVentajas: The pick up was rather quick, the staff friendly and helpful. The car was very good and economical. The drop off place was easy to find. It took us a couple of minutes to give the car back. Thousand thanks to the company.

Fraud! AVIS personal cheat me!Ventajas: NothingDesventajas: I was arriving Florence at 1.30 pm by train, so I chose to pick up at Borgo at 1.00 pm. System didn't give me an 1.30 pm option. Surprisingly, in the the train I discovered in a tiny letter in the voucher that Borgo closes at 1pm on Sundays. I was phoning there from 12.45 up to 1 pm, but they answer and after some seconds at the menu the calls were ended by them. I took a taxi to the airport, and then they treat us so rude! Price was 3 times what I had in my reservation, and the selling girls just tell us that she couldnt do anything to respect my price because. One of them lied to me telling me that 100 euros of the price was for a charge that would be refunded. That charge and the fuel (because I returned it with 5/8 were never be refunded to me). Something that would cost me about 120 euros, ended costing me 350 euros. If I were there now, I would send AVIS to justice! No more AVIS in the future!

Pickup /Dropoff Nigthmare!Ventajas: Nice and patient employees for pickup and dropoff.Desventajas: There are only two employees, for more than 30 customers. The pickup process took almost two hours .

This was not an exception, per neighbors confirmation, it is ALWAYS the same long and tedious process for customers!

Brilliant Ventajas: The only thing I can complain about the rental process was the difficulty in trying to find their office and drip off. Both were downtown.
Other than that, it went exceptionally well. Everyone was friendly.
Desventajas: Many of Italy's cities have restrictions about areas where you can drive within the city. Violating these rules can lead to serious fines. Therefore, as international traveler,s we would have appreciated more information from our car rental agency- with maps, for example, that would have let us know about the exact areas where we are allowed to drive or not. We did not get this information and felt like sitting ducks for fines. Also, we were rather stressed that we might be breaking rules without really knowing that we were doing so.

Desventajas: We were informed at the counter that we would be charged identical prices for the two cars that were rented. However this was NOT what happened. The second car ended up costing more than twice what we were told the price would be.
We also should have been informed about ZTL restrictions
Desventajas: Enterprise put a Hold of several hundred euros on my wife's credit card and when the car was returned in fine condition and full of fuel I was told it would take 5 days for the hold to be lifted.
Non transparent costsDesventajas: The website accepted my 1-day booking from 9am to 9pm, but there was an additional after hours return charge of 20 euros paid upon return. I was definitely not informed of this upon reservation.
Successful rental within walking distance of the tVentajas: We liked receiving a new hybrid Toyota with automatic shift.
It was also convenient to the train station.Desventajas: We had to wait in line nearly 45 minutes to pick up the car. But once we got to check in, the representatives were very efficient and professional.

Ventajas: Everything went smoothly and was exactly how I had planned it. Car was clean, modern, and the preexisting damage was well documented. I decided to change my drop off date and location mid trip, after a very short phone call to the Florence office where I picked it up Europcar was able to make the changes without incident. Desventajas: Rental agreeement was not appropriately filled out my employee...it was essentially empty. We called almost every hertz around the Rome area after our original drop off loctation was not located where is was listed on google. It was very difficult to navigate to, we finally found the place, and there was a sign saying they had moved. We tried to call numerous different numbers (including US numbers) at different times of day to arrange a different drop off time and never were able to contact anyone. The people at the airport hertz in Rome were not friendly when our paperwork had not been filled out by the Hertz in Florence.
First Italy Rental ExperienceVentajas: Great counter support, and a good car - it all made for a great overall experience. Costs were quite reasonable.

Don't be late to pick up your carDesventajas: Huge line and delay at pick-up. Also, in the US, if you come later than you have put down as your reservation, and your car is no longer available, they will generally give you whatever they have without an extra charge. In order to get a car, I was forced to upgrade and pay an additional $150.
Hertz not good at allVentajas: NothingDesventajas: Didn't update my reservations when I called in to make changes. Didn't get the car I ordered because "it was impossible to get now".
Was given a beat up, dirty minivan looking box instead of a compact FIAT. Damage and horrible driving conditions
Ventajas: Good, kind service.Desventajas: Had to pay with either cash or the credit card that has the same name as the person who rented the car. Could not use other credit card.
Desventajas: Did not receive all my options. I would have liked a personal hotspot which I was not offered and did not know about. I would've had Wi-Fi and the convenience of using my phone and navigation from my phone. I was sold a GPS device even after I mentioned I had no Wi-Fi on my phone. I believe they should have then told me about personal hotspot. I also refilled the gas tank on the way back to return the car. So of course some gas was used and they charge me a fee and the cost of refueling.
Drop offVentajas: I flew in and flew out to separate airport and o the drop off being given directions to the drop off would have been helpful. Especially since I do not speak the native language of the country I was visiting. But overall car was clean, no hassle of minor scrapes of car due to wear on car.

USB didn't work Desventajas: The USB adapter didn't work properly so I couldn't recharge my phone for my Waze to work. Was concerned about being in the middle of nowhere without directions

Haven't got the refund as well till now. The staff didn't entertain us for the refund or cancellation. Customer care has been indifferent as well..

How Did They Make Money?Ventajas: We rented a small SUV (Fiat 500S) from Florence, Italy and dropped off in Rome, Italy. We had the car a week and the charge was 33Euros (about $40) FOR THE WEEK!!! With taxes and fees the total was 126 Euros. The vehicle had a GPS so we didn't have to pay extra for that. It was awesome having the freedom to drive through Tuscany and stop wherever we wanted and sightsee.
