Desventajas: First off the windshield wipers didn’t work. Secondly, there was no washer fluid. Also there was this shaking vibration in the car. The remote battery was low and at times couldn’t get the car to start and had to try multiple times. Also I believe I was over charged and will be calling Alamo. I will not rent from Alamo again.

Annoying to pick up a car with no gasDesventajas: First rental I've ever had where the gas light was on in the rental car parking lot. Would it really kill your bottom line to refuel cars that come in that low? Pretty annoying to have to get to a gas station ASAP or risk breaking down on the side of the highway. This also wasn't marked anywhere on the paperwork; if I hadn't brought it to the staff's attention they would have assumed I was leaving with a full tank (and, I'm sure, made me pay if I brought it back empty).
Ventajas: Nice car for the money, but...Desventajas: We were sold on a "pre-paid" tank of gas, only to get on the freeway and find that the tank was dead empty. The time it took to correct this almost made us miss our return flight AND it wasn't really corrected; Avis ended up with about a half tank of free gas but ended up charging US for gas.
My experience Ventajas: The car that I was given was a 2017 Chevy Cruze. The exterior of car was nice and the interior was as well Desventajas: Pick up was so confusing there were no signs to point you in the direction of the building. I requested a pick up time of 12:00pm so I could make it to my destination in a reasonable time frame but I was unable to because when I arrived to Avis there were no cars in the parking lot, I was told to come back in 2 hours because they were waiting on cars to be delivered.

Expected a fee but Avis charged us 9.99 a gallon and they only had one agent working the counter so my husband had to wait forever to be robbed and treated rudely. Whole process of return took one and a half hours. Will never use Avis again.

Ripped offDesventajas: We called to extend the rental by an extra day, when discussing the rate with the customer service agent, he gave us an estimate of $15 for the extra day. It sounded too good to be true so we asked again just to be sure. We agreed to a second day since the price is so low. When we followed up again to look into keeping the car for the entire weekend we were told our balance was $150 (not including miles). I understand that the $15 was an estimate, but 10x as much?!? That's just dirty.

I spent ,5 hrs on the phone trying to return my car to a different location cause of weather and snow .Car was beat up . Had the baldest tires in exsistince and no winshield wiper fluid . At first I thought it was a bad dream then realized I was in adeathtrap. Dollar rent a car cares nothing about its customers nor will they ever. The only reason to use them is if you are playing a joke on someone you hate .

Ventajas: N/ADesventajas: I wasn't able to actually rent a car for my trip- which I ended up missing because of new car rental rules that were implemented without telling their customers. In case you wanted to rent a car from the airport, make sure if you're a local renter (without a round trip airline ticket) that you have a major credit card in YOUR name available to put the hold on or they won't allow you to rent! IF you decide to go to a local rental car place (non-airport) make sure you have a utility bill in YOUR name. If not, you can't even be added on as an extra driver because that makes COMPLETE sense.
I've rented from the airport and local enterprise more times than I can count and haven't had any of these rules implemented until I needed to leave for my trip Thursday and all of a sudden I couldn't get a vehicle. When I made the reservation, these "new rules" should have been spelled out in the email so I would have been prepared first thing Thursday morning so I didn't have to run around like a chicken with my head cut off before work!

Worst customer service ever!Ventajas: Comfortable ride, but lacked power on hills cross country from Ohio to Washington state. Desventajas: Service at pick up in Cleveland airport was the worst experience ever. The manager was rude and inconsiderate. The person at the pickup counter told me to sign and initial the contract without explaining anything or allowing me to read the terms. He said I just needed to sign it quickly because he had other customers waiting . I told him that I don't sign anything without reading it first, and if he needed to help other customers, he should get help from another service person. He assisted me less than 3 minutes and was extremely rude.
Great car, fun helperVentajas: The woman who helped us asked what we drove at home so that she could find something in which would be comfortable. She got us a really cute little Jeep and said that because we were on our way to ride coasters at Cedar Point she wanted to start the fun!
Great Service, yet not what I signed up forVentajas: I loved the Client service. The staff was very kind and efficient in both Cleveland and New Haven (dropoff). Everything was also very quick, I was in and out in less than 10 minutes.Desventajas: I reserved a small car mostly thinking of fuel efficiency. When I went to pickup the car, the only vehicle available was a Jeep Compass which is by no means fuel efficient. Therefore I ended up spending 3 times the amount I had budgeted for gas.

I booked through Kayak and my reservation was at the wrong locationDesventajas: I booked my reservation themeough Kayak, and my car was reserved at the wrong location. I was supposed to get my car at the airport, but the pickup location was 45 minutes away. I ended up changing the reservation and paying twice as much for the same class of car from the airport location. Do yourself a favor and shop around yourself instead of using these aggregation sites.

Great Car Rental Experience Ventajas: The car I rented, a Hyundai Sonata, was perfect for the long drive from Cleveland to New Orleans. The employee was helpful and efficient. Great experience. Desventajas: My only issue was finding the Hertz. Google maps was telling me I was there, but I didn't see any Hertz signs. The location is actually inside the Doubletree Hotel, which I didn't realize.
First experience with HertzVentajas: The car had satellite radio which was great but it kept dropping for no apparent reason. Had to press options on the steering wheel several time to get it back. Desventajas: There was a huge puddle of water that collected in the trunk underneath the mat. Some of our luggage got wet. We had no idea where it came from. We had to remove a drain plug to empty it.
There was no spare tire either. We called about that but no one ever called back. We felt like there was no service whatsoever between getting the car and returning it.
Personally, I will never rent from Hertz again. We rented from you because the price was low. However, Hertz charges a huge fee to have a second driver which meant the bargain price wasn’t a bargain after all.
Kayak made the rental at the wrong locationVentajas: Nothing, we had to cancel the reservation.Desventajas: The Kayak misled me to book the reservation at a location that was not the airport. When we arrived at the airport, though there were available vehicles, they could not transfer the reservation. After 45 minutes on the phone trying to move the reservation to the correct location, they could only cancel. To rebook at the current location was going to cost 3x as much as the original booking. Eventually, we just used a different app to book a reservation at a different company, for close to the original price.
Paid doubleVentajas: Car was fine. Desventajas: At airport they said I had reserved at another location. I had to call to change and pay difference of $6.00. Instead I was charged separately as though I had not prepaid. So, $44 prepaid and then $83 at drop off. I am not happy.
Angry at HertzDesventajas: You got us a car 45 minutes from the airport... Hertz was NOT helpful at all at the Cleveland airport, they told us to uber to Beachwood 40 to 45 min. Away to retrieve the car. Guess what? We went to Avis and got a car at an Excellent price... Hertz being a huge company could have helped us a little more. Never Hertz again!
Desventajas: I was told drop off was late, but still during business hours. The lights were on at the CLE airport drop off area, and the inside desk was staffed, but no one came out to close out my rental. There was no sign posted advising that this was after hours. After waiting around I finally just dropped the keys in the nightbox. Intuitive, but some posted guidance would have been appreciated.

HORRIBLEVentajas: Not much.Desventajas: The lady that checked me into the rental had an attitude, the car had not floor mats and the bluetooth would not sync with my phone.
At check in there was a sign saying a receipt for gas purchased within 10 of their rental location must be left in the car or charges would result. I told them I had a 6:00 a.m flight and as a 5'2" single female I was not happy to be told that I must stop at 3:30-4:00 a.m in an unfamiliar area to do that, and that I always fill up the night before but just a bit outside that 10 mile radius. That is where the attitude came in. The lady made some notes in the computer and sent me on my way. I open my credit card statement yesterday, and Thrifty charged me 250.00 for a smoking fee. I am livid. I called and customer service told me that there was a note to charge me and NOT to take the charge off. I do not smoke in my rentals. Those that smoke, did so outside of the vehicle. Granted the car door may have been open to block a little of the frigid wind, but there is nothing that says that a 5 foot berth of non smoked in air must surround the car.
I will NEVER rent from Thrifty again, which is too bad because I make frequent trips to the Cleveland area and require a car every time. They lost a customer with a potential of 5-10 rentals for various lengths of time. This last rental was 16 days. I will pay the higher cost for Avis as I have always had such great service from them and a wonderful staff.

the best experience everVentajas: I was treated like a celebrity. Very professionally. I had a choice to pick any car I wanted. There was a small issue with the pressure in one of the wheels, perhaps because of the very cold weather in Cleveland, but I wanted to be on the safe side and brought the car back to the Thrifty, and they just instantly exchanged the car to other one, apologized for the inconvenience. Such a good guys. Desventajas: I even cannot imagine what the Thrifty can do wrong. They did their best to satisfy their customers in every possible way. I even wanted to give tips to the checkin/checkout lady over there, very professional and attractive person, but was holding back because I don't know will that be appropriate.
Reserved Vehicle UnavailableDesventajas: The vehicle that I had placed on reserve was not available and rather than provide a free upgrade to something similar but slightly larger they left me waiting for close to an hour for a car to drive off with. It was cold and raining and around 9 p.m. and no one came to my assistance. Finally, I went back out to the lot and said that I would take a lesser vehicle at the same cost just to be done with the situation. I drove off the lot with a brake grabbing and tobacco smoke smelling SUV without any discounts granted for this inconvenience.

I initially reserved the car online, we arrived at the rental car center and was greeted by Patrick - he was very friendly, talking about various things, which was fine, but in my opinion too much. he talked like a used car salesman. Our booking was for a Chrysler 300 or something similar, I left my husband to finish the paperwork while I went to the restroom. When I got back my husband said we were getting a Nissan and was going to cost $65 additional for 6 days. I went to Patrick and told him this was not the agreed price; they did not have a Chrysler 300, so I was told a Nissan Altima was a similar car class - but Patrick was insisting this was additional $, he said it had leather seats, we did not care that it had leather seats. We came to Cleveland to see kids and grand kids, this was not an importance to us. Bottom line he continued to be confrontational in front of everybody, even when his supervisor told him to back down and it continued outside as we picked up our car. I was told by supervisor i would be charged original price of $205.56; however, i checked online and Thrifty charged $282.21.
