Ventajas: After I got re-routed to a different airport, my 24-year-old son had to pick up our car instead. I was worried because I thought you had to be 25 to rent. There was a small fee associated with it, but he was able to pick up our car with no problems, last minute. Thank you!

Ventajas: Comfortable little car with some nice acessories. I would rent that size again.

Desventajas: Did not like the color. Black showed a lot of dirt. Do not like the gas feature of when the car is idling and turns off car to conserve gas.

Late flight

Desventajas: Our flight was delayed by over an hour and by the time we landed the rental counter was closed. I was unable to contact them due to the fact that I followed the rules by turning my cell phone off once the cabin door was closed. I feel that hertz should ensure all flights are in prior to closing. I call customer service and told it was completely my fault and I was left stranded over 60 miles from final destination. I was only told to get a hotel room and wait til morning. This would all have cost me more money that I was not willing to spend. I will never rent from hertz again even as a last resort.

Carol was awesome!

Ventajas: Carol, the receptionist in Syracuse at pick-up was phenomenal! Engaging, knowledgeable and helpful. Rate was incredible and size of car for the metal class was great. Maybe the best rental car experience I have had.

Desventajas: Nothing.

Car reeked of cigarette smoke.

Ventajas: The folks at the counter were most helpful. We had to walk a ways to find the car. It was 11 pm, we had flown across the country. We were exhausted, hungry and we still had to find our way to the hotel.

Desventajas: Had we not been so tired and hungry and if it hadn’t been so late, we would have walked back to the rental car area and exchanged our car. The car reeked of cigarette smoke the entire 3 days we had it, even though we drove with the windows open when possible and ran the fan. It was awful. And the car had many scratches and dings, which we photographed before leaving the garage. It was a very bad experience.

Never again

Desventajas: Horrible customer service. Wouldn’t replace windshield wipers on defective blades and we had to drive through lake effect snow the entire time. Tried to turn it in, spent hours with customer service, all lies and no follow through. Never rent with Budget.

Ventajas: The vehicle is nice and comfortable. Other than the comments below it was a good experience.

Desventajas: The windows looked like they were cleaned with an old rag. The night we picked it up it was rainy and we couldn't see very well. stopped at a restaurant and used water and paper towels to make it where we were gping.

Desventajas: Drop off was terrible. Persons in garage were pushy and grabbed my keys and locked the car as soon as I arrived. Asked them THREE TIMES NOT TO LOCK THE Car UNTIL I GOT MY TGHINGS OUT!!! But they did anyway and said they did not. They had the keys so it was not me who locked it. Seemed like they just wanted to grab the car and not give me time to exit Just a bums rush!!

Ventajas: The price was much more affordable than Hertz's car rental for a driver under 21 years of age, although a little excessive.

Desventajas: The car was parked very close to a car on the left, which made it very difficult for me to get into the car initially. The car was not clean when I first entered it. The steering wheel was oily and there were crumbs from food on the floor and under the emergency brake. The windshield wipers had some sort of sticky residue under the rubber, not allowing me to properly wipe my windshields. Visibility was low during my road trip, making driving somewhat dangerous.

Great Service - helpful folks

Ventajas: For the first time ever I forgot to refill the car before returning it. I was running super late to my flight, and they were completely understanding. I expected to pay the fee for refilling, but they were extremely understanding and realized that I only used a few gallons of fuel - they charged me the pump price instead of the fee. Extremely thoughtful - will definitely rent from them again!!

Desventajas: I don't have a bad thing to say. I was a little disappointed that I paid twice for insurance, once through a third party during the booking, and another when I arrived. I wish it was all together - but that's it.

Great price. Ok service.

Ventajas: The women at the pick up counter in Syracuse was great.

Desventajas: The instructions in the email had you first call a number that no one answers. I called the national number as opposed to the local one and the customer service representative did not think the Syracuse airport existed nor did he know about the instructions in the email to call the local number Car trunk had trash in it from a previous renter and the car smelled of smoke. Perhaps you have to pay extra for a non-smoking car but I was not aware. No one was at the counter for the return nor answered the phone.

Confused about fill up conditions

Ventajas: Excellent price / cleanliness of car was good

Desventajas: I did not like that we were told the tank would be full. However when we drove the car not even a smile it had dropped quite a bit on the gas gauge. We were told that when we bring the car back to have the gas tank filled or as close as possible. The people who previously used it didn't fill the tank all the way

Desventajas: When I went to pick up the car, the employee handling the counter told me numerous personal stories that made the whole experience roughly 20 minutes longer than it needed to be. She would stop processing paperwork to tell me personal stories....

Got a great rate for Syracuse which is ridiculously expensive

Ventajas: Ease of booking and price

Desventajas: Syracuse airport is torn up and extremely hard to navigate - not Kayak's fault but a really bad experience for travelers there.

Great Service - helpful folks

Ventajas: For the first time ever I forgot to refill the car before returning it. I was running super late to my flight, and they were completely understanding. I expected to pay the fee for refilling, but they were extremely understanding and realized that I only used a few gallons of fuel - they charged me the pump price instead of the fee. Extremely thoughtful - will definitely rent from them again!!

Desventajas: I don't have a bad thing to say. I was a little disappointed that I paid twice for insurance, once through a third party during the booking, and another when I arrived. I wish it was all together - but that's it.

Payless in Syracuse

Desventajas: Don't bother calling the pickup phone number because they will never answer. Just try to figure out where they've been moved to due the the construction in the airport! Also the EZ Pass did Not work!

Desventajas: Please don’t use this company. I got to the airport in Syracuse and it turns out they don’t function on saturdays. I ended up booking with Avis. I will run the other way if I ever hear of this car rental company again

Ventajas: Mini van was comfortable. Pick up staff was nice but seemed overwhelmed by the number of customers and lack of vehicles to fulfill the reservations. Drop off was very easy and staff was nice.

Desventajas: When I arrived to pick up the mini van I reserved, I was told there were no vans available but I could have a Yukon. I specifically reserved a van because I had 6 people & needed easy access to the 3rd row. The agent did go get a van but I had to wait a 1/2 hour as she had to go off site for it.

Ventajas: The vehicle was in good repair and drove well.

Desventajas: The vehicle I reserved was not available and the one that I was provided as a replacement was smaller and less comfortable for my family. I also discovered a croissant in a plastic container and a lighter underneath the drivers seat. Otherwise the vehicle seemed to be clean.

Upselling Caution

Ventajas: Clean car

Desventajas: Know what you want before getting to the counter as they will try to up sell you on everything from a bigger car to insurances, GPS, Gasoline and phone chargers. If you prepaid the Alliance insurance, they will push hard to get you to cancel (they have the phone number handy) that and take theirs. “Ours is a better deal, Alliance will still impact your car insurance, all we need is a police report”. Don’t know if that is true or not so be prepared, do your homework and stick to your guns.

Ripped off

Ventajas: The customer service representative was polite and tried to help us.

Desventajas: I had reserved an economy car for $133 but when we got to the counter we were told they had no economy cars so for that price all they had were 15 passenger van!!!! We had to pay $67 more for a car!!!!!!

Ventajas: Quick processing, friendly staff, clean car, convenient location.

Desventajas: A little pushy trying upsell insurance and such when checking in. No one at the parking lot when I dropped off the car.

Buyer beware!!

Desventajas: My key broke with normal use in the ignition over 4 days and I was charged $300 for it!!! I will be disputing this.

Ventajas: pick up and drop off right at the airport

Desventajas: waiting in line to drop off car. Car did not have a gas cap and no one told me when I picked it up so I wanted to report when I dropped it off so as not to get charged for it. I had to wait in line and when I got to the counter the girl said very matter of tact, "oh those cars don't have a gas cap".

Watch out for unwanted "Trip saver": 4.99/day extra

Ventajas: Staff were polite (but lied)

Desventajas: When I queried the $20 increased charge over the quoted price at the counter I was told it was the "franchise fee". When I had time to look more closely I saw that "Tripsaver @$4.99" per day had been added without asking me if I wanted it (I didn't, I have AAA) I called the franchise and the lie was repeated - evectivly blaming KAYAK for not quoting the right price (in fact KAYAK's quote was accurate)

Desventajas: They tried to stick me with an 11-seater van, and had to pay extra to get a more reasonable economy car/sedan. This was not transparent to me when I made the reservation.

Bad customer service

Ventajas: Carvwas good, pick up is easy

Desventajas: Franchise fee was added. The mobile oil was not changed. There was no water in wipers. Insurance rate was high. Extremely poor service. Difficult to locate car in the garage because no sign was posted. Over all, the service was poor, not comfortable in taking car on rent
