no rental! how do I get my money back?!?
Ventajas: When I got to the desk, 8 just had my debit card, the lady informed me that I wasn't eligible for a rental and in order to get a refund, I had to contact the company I arranged the rental with. I tried calling a number for Kayak I found on-line, but I couldn't reach a person. So, I'm out 159 dollars and change. And, no there was no writing on the Web page saying I had to have a credit card.
Desventajas: See above.
The lady wasn't particularly nice, either.
I would like my money refunded. I went to the Budget place at the next counter. I got a car, the people were very nice, extremely helpful. But, it cost almost $300. I would very much like my money refunded from Kayak.

Desventajas: Counter agent struggled w prepaid reservation. Delayed getting car.
Ventajas: Hertz counter is right in the baggage area. No need for a shuttle.
Ventajas: the van had a dvd player in it
Desventajas: The van that was given was a older van, had over 30,000 miles on it. It drove awful seem liked it needed new tires and shocks on it. I did share with Hertz employee, she gave me a 30 off next rental, however, I will not be renting from them again. I usually use National will go back to them and pay the higher price for a better vehicle.

Everything as expected.
Ventajas: The rentals are so close to the gates. My flight was arriving at 10:30pm and the listing said the counter was closing at 11pm, so I had no problem with timing.
Desventajas: This is a reach I know , but it would be good if I were warned on the website that since my flight and Hertz counter closing was so close together. And perhaps I would like to know more directly what it would mean if my flight was delayed . So just the extra precautionary preparation would have been good peace of mind.

$350 deposit?!
Ventajas: Nothing
Desventajas: Rude counter customer service, $350 deposit that wasnt stated online, my rental wasnt ready at the time I reserved.
I found the service to be excellent.
Ventajas: I enjoyed the reasonable cost and quality of the car.
Desventajas: I enjoyed everything.
Possible Third Party Scam
Ventajas: Everything with Dollar was fine. Be warned that when you book a car through a third party like Kayak, there are extra "fine print" details that you need to know. See what i "didn't like" for details.
Desventajas: Beware, when you set the return time for your car (mine was 10:00AM) and if you exceed it or bring the car back late, it resets you back the original daily vehicle price. My agreed to price for a mid-size was ~$18 a day and the final cost was ~$72 a day due to a late return. The Dollar staff insisted this was because I booked through a third party (Kayak) and shouldn't do this. She fixed the problem and got me the correct final rate but was not happy about it. Again, only taking her word that Kayak was the problem and not them (Dollar).
Ventajas: The price was great the car was wonderful the only thing that wasn't that great was a person's attitude behind the counter and the fact that it took over 20 minutes for her to come back to the des

Desventajas: When returning my car, I had to wait in line for 25 mins. I couldn't wait any longer as I had to check in so left the keys and paperwork with the desk rep. She said she would email me my receipt but I have received nothing. I tried calling customer service but no one was able to help me.
Ventajas: Great, new vehicle, clean, good value, great fuel economy. Customer service was excellent both at pickup and drop off.

Desventajas: Pick up process was smooth. Lady knew what she was doing and had me straight quickly. Drop has not happened yet as I ended up extending the reservation. So far so good overall. I'd do it again.
Desventajas: arrived at front counter and no one was there. I asked a rep from another car rental company if they knew where the employee was and they told me she was outside SMOKING. After a bit of a wait the employee came in from the outside and helped me but never apologized for being outside smoking.
Superior Service Even When Car Breaks
Ventajas: Reservationing car online was simple and painless. Picking up the car and returning the car we’re both a breeze. The car would not start after stopping the first time. A call to Budget and a mechanic was sent to us immediately. They drove us back to the airport and quickly provided a replacement vehicle.
Desventajas: The fact that our first car experienced an electrical problem soon after picking it up was an irritant. However, we were still local to the airport and Budget responded quickly and appropriately.
Ventajas: The car was decent (Kia Soul)
Desventajas: When I came to pick up the car no one was at the desk for about 15' (she was outside smoking).
When I dropped off the car they simply took the keys at the desk and did not bother to check mileage/condition nor offer a receipt.
When charges hit my credit car the amount was almost double the quoted amount. Had to waste my time to call home office to have corrected and there was no adequate explanation. Disturbing!
Issue with counter and checkout
Desventajas: I was assisted by a representative from Avis (covering for the Budget counter on a Sunday). The reservation was improperly transferred from Kayak to Budget according to the agent. The agent helped multiple Avis Preferred customers in line behind me prior to addressing my issue. The problem took close to an hour to resolve.
Ventajas: Car had good gas milege
Ventajas: Customer service at the counter was fine.
Desventajas: Car indicated low battery on key fob right away and the back of the station wagon would not open. We had to put suitcases in the back seat.
Ventajas: Agent at pickup was extremely friendly and helpful.
Desventajas: Car had some hail damage and damage on backseat. as well as other dents and scratches. the rental agent noted some but not all but was helpful showing damage we reported. Also, AC only worked intermittently. when we told the agent at return, she said we must have not been setting all the buttons correctly. She also was not helpful when we needed to change rental to a different dropoff because our flight was cancelled. Quoted us an additional $400 although I just had gotten an online confirmation for one size smaller vehicle for a total of $38. She said that size was not available and we would have to come back later. We went to Hertz for similar car available immediately for $51. Budget/Avis agent was not helpful at all.

Gas charge rip-off
Desventajas: A bogus gas charge scam is going on, and you're part of it:
1. I rent a car through Kayak for a great rate
2. I return the car with a full tank
3. when I'm not there to see what the car rental company is doing, they unilaterally decide that I did not fill the car fully with gas, and then gouge me, in my opinion fraudulently, for refilling the tank at $9.99 a gallon
When I returned the car yesterday I informed the person at the desk that I will file a class action law suit if I again get charged for gas. I told her I filled the tank across the street from the airport, even overfilled it until it spilled on the pavement. So there is NO WAY they should charge me. But as I said above in point 3, I will not be there when they make their determination. It is a SCAM that allows YOU to secure business with a $24 dollar rental rate, and then they make up for the great rate by piling on a bogus gas charge once I"m out of tonw. Please remedy this.
