The Palma de Mallorca Airport, also known as Son Sant Joan Airport, is 5 miles from the city of Palma de Mallorca. If you're driving to the airport, take the autovia toward Santanyí and follow the signs to the airport. Though the airport itself is small, it is the third largest in Spain with very high traffic, especially during the summer months when fellow Europeans look to hit the beach. The highest number of passengers come from Germany and Air Berlin uses Palma as a hub. It has one main terminal and four modules (similar to concourses) known as Modules A through D. All check-in desks are located on the 2nd floor. Passengers then proceed to the 4th floor which leads to one of the four modules (similar to concourses): A-D. All gates are accessed through one of the modules. The arrivals area is located on the ground floor along with 16 baggage claim carousels.
