Car was located at off-site rental location, not aDesventajas: The car I reserved was located 22 miles away off airport location. Internet booking did not indicate this at all. Agent at airport had me pay higher rate for a one day rental then gave incorrect information regarding swapping out the cars the next day. Paid twice as much for a smaller car and endured the hassle of dealing with the whole mix-up while on vacation. Budget just lost another customer.

"Reservation" does not mean that Budget will actuaDesventajas: I went to pick up my mid-sized SUV to find out that Budget did not have it and wouldn't have it. They indicated that they were not responsible for this error as someone else who was supposed to return the vehicle extended and they have no control over that. They offered a "full sized" car or 4-door pick up instead - for a higher cost (of course because they were more expensive options). Seems like if they don't have the car they promised, they should make it right without additional expense. I did agree to the sedan they offered (what choice did I have?) and then compared their list of scratches to what was really on the car. Many more on the car than what they reported, including ding in windshield and tape residue all over the inside of the windshield, which I had to scrape off with a razor so that I could see clearly on my trip. The car was dirty - food in the seat and smeared on the back of the front seat. I will pass on Budget as an option in the future.
Took my reservation. Didn't have a car for me. Ventajas: Said the cars that were there were reserved for other people. I said on well I have a reservation also, how come you aren't honoring mine but you're honoring theirs? No response. Got upset with me like it was my fault. Finally reached the conclusion that I could take a 12 passenger van as its the only car there that wasn't reserved. Again I don't know why my reservation wasn't as important. Anyway, I booked an economy car, so when I asked for a discount on a 12 passenger van as it is way to big for my use and will cost way more in gas mileage, she balked at me and acted as if I were crazy for even suggesting such a thing. Terrible customer service and overall lack of understanding of how to run a business.
Great service no hassle and good price Ventajas: Price, service and availability. They usually upgrade me too. The car was excellent.
Desventajas: When I was returning the car, looks like your system is too complicated or not user friendly because clerk was doing too much with computer, this took a while.
Ventajas: Nothing. Terrible customer service Desventajas: The lady who gave the car to me didn't have my car, didn't offer to refund the difference of the smaller car. Worst car experience ever.
Ventajas: I got to where I was going safely Desventajas: The blue tooth was impossible to connect to, and then when you plugged the use into the car to charge your phone it would not play through the car speakers. So basically impossible to hear directions and to listen to your own music. This sucked. Further more the back seats in the car looked like they were attacked by a cat. And the car absolutely needed some engine/transmission work done. I rent cars frequently and this is my first bad experience. Just a sub par rental car. But I am renting another car today, hope for the best.

Hidden chargesVentajas: It was a nice vehicle that did what I wanted it to do. Desventajas: Dollar has hidden charges about geographic zones you can drive to within the “unlimited miles” offer. My rental cost me twice as much as the reservation because I was charged an extra $20 per day that I could never have known about when I booked. Terrible.

Trapped By UpgradeVentajas: I thought the price would be great. Turns out, the price was 'wrong' because I rejected the upgrade.Desventajas: I reserved a mid-size for four days and was quoted $223. When I arrived at the counter in Asheville, there were 3 counter attendants and a kiosk. With no communication from any of the attendants, no one knew they could step up to the kiosk. Signage was poorly placed, too, so no one knew where the line started or ended. After thirty five minutes in line (2 people ahead of me in the line, 2 at the counter...), finally it was my turn. Two men came up, cut in line, and got the attendant's attention to "just ask a question." The attendant promptly left the counter, and me, to help them. I waited until the next attendant was available and tried to step over to him, but the other attendant returned. She was walking me through all the questions and asked if I wanted an upgrade to an SUV. I declined. She asked again. I declined. I had the mid-size and I was set. She got pushy and irritated. I declined. I tried to be polite - I've worked retail and know what it's like when customers jump to upset. She was clearly angry about my response.
Next, she asked if I wanted insurance coverage. I explained that I had the best insurance and I'd verified that I didn't need coverage. She stopped and said, "Ma'am. Ma'am. Ma'am. You HAVE to have coverage." So, I asked how much the basic would cost and she said, "Well, we'll see..." and took a long time to look at the screen. Then she said that it would cost $355.
I asked again if the coverage was required and said, "I was quoted $223" and she responded, "Ma'am. I'm telling you NOW that you HAVE to get coverage and it's GOING to be $355."
I said that I couldn't do $355 and asked if she could cancel it. She said, "I mean, if that's what YOU want, I can cancel it right now..."
So, I walked down the row, picked Budget, and got a better car for $240 (not required even a little to have coverage with them...) A little more than my original, but apparently, I'm REQUIRED to get coverage with Dollar. I also wasted nearly 40 minutes in line. Time I could have been driving to my destination.
Needless to say, if that's the policy, I won't be going with Dollar again. The bait and switch is unfair. I also worry about a hiring practice that would create a 40 minute line with 4 available attendants - and a salesperson more concerned with the upgrade commission than making the sale.
Ventajas: Small off-site facility, only one vehicle left when we got there. No complaints from us, we enjoyed the upgrade of the full-sized Ram pickup.Desventajas: Not really a complaint, but it was a small, off-site facility that was staffed by only one person that did everything, so it took longer. It was efficient and friendly though, not really an issue. Just took a while.
Ventajas: The place was small and only had one vehicle left, but we did not complain about the complimentary upgrade - we enjoyed driving the full-size pickup. Fun!!Desventajas: Slow service, only one person on staff doing it all. But it got done and was efficient, so this really isn't a complaint.
Asheville Dollar Car Rental: Ridiculous Management Desventajas: It took me 90 minutes from point of airport pick up to getting into my rental car and on the road to my ultimate destination. The office is off-site from the airport, and shared with Hertz and Thrifty, and yet there was only one person working at all three counters. The car I ended up with wasn't cleaned out properly, although they did give me a Jeep on a compact car price for my trouble. Ultimately, for this Asheville location, go with one of the rental companies with counters at the airport.

Got an awesome deal, I payed about half what I normally would for a Nissan truck. Dollar rental from AshevilleVentajas: This was a larger vehicle than I requested (a Jeep renegade), but it was very smooth to drive with no problems. It didn't take too much gas.Desventajas: The rental place is often understaffed so pickup and dropoff can take a little while. The car hadn't been cleaned on the outside when I got it, but that was ok since I was going to be getting it dusty anyway.
Great vehicle, friendly serviceVentajas: The Dollar office is just a short shuttle from Asheville airport. I had no wait and found the employees friendly and helpful. My little truck was just what I needed to head to mountains for a few days.
Fast, friendly, forgivingVentajas: Easy pick up & drop off, and they were kind when I had a flight delay that impacted my return. Car was in good shape, good value for the money.

Excellent Service!!!Ventajas: I dropped the car of at Entreprise Asheville NC. These folks were even nicer, faster and more professionals than the other ones... if that is even possible. Overall, it was a very positive experience.
Ventajas: the staff were great and helpful, the car was clean and fine.Desventajas: I HATE that they fill it up only half way and expect you to figure out how many gallons to fill it up half way. It feels like a cheap trick to get more money without really saying so and it makes the whole experience negative. Why do car companies do this. It's SO obvious. If they would state it up front before renting, it's different, but I didn't know. I will go back to Budget because they give me a full tank of gas. It may not be a lot of difference but I hate being taken advantage in ways that don't feel honest.

OkayVentajas: The car got great gas mileage which is what I was looking for a business trip I had to take.Desventajas: The car was dirty inside! There was still trash in it when I got in. The cup holders and every crevice was crusted with who knows what. There were no floor mats so lots of stains. Glad I didn't have to take any clients in there with me! The windshield wipers needed to be replaced desperately which I didn't know until I had to drive on the highway in the pouring down rain and could barely see! They could do a lot better with the maintenance of their cars. Seemed like a bunch of young guys working there who couldn't have cared less.

This place should not be on this website.Desventajas: I went to the airport - where they say they are located, and they are about 2 miles from the airport. They do not even have a window at the airport. When I arrived at the actual location, there was one person there running three windows and helping multiple people.
I finally got helped and they didn't have my car - they told me I was late so they gave it away. They ended up giving me a different car but it was very difficult and then I needed to extend and called them and they told me to call back the next day. It was just a very difficult experience.

Very new car fleet, a few issuesVentajas: Satellite radio included. Desventajas: The vehicle had a temporary tag which was not affixed properly and came off while we were driving. It also did not have cruise control - fairly standard in most rental cars.
Miss information lead to wasting hours of my timeDesventajas: After finding no cars available downtown we took a LYFT to the airport. The kind lady at the rental place was super helpful. Even offering to let us return the car downtown. Once we were ready to return we couldn't find "THRIFTY" anywhere downtown. The phone number we were given was wrong. After calling the airport location we were informed that there is no downtown location. Then after driving all the way to the airport the new agent said that you can return to Hertz but there is not a thrifty downtown. What a wast of time.
Desventajas: Slow service, needs to have a shuttle driver at all times. Needs to be clear about drop off options.
Worst Rental Company EverVentajas: The car even though it was dirtyDesventajas: 1. When I got to the airport I found out that their office was offsite. I waited 20 minutes for a shuttle.
2. Got to their office finally. They share an office with Hertz and Budget. For all three of these desks, they had one person working. A girl who spoke broken English.
3. It took an hour to get to my turn in line to rent the car.
4. Got the car and it was dirty, covered in dust with dirt on the inside.
5. Went back to the return counter to drop off the car at the end of my visit. The same girl informs me she doesn't have anyone to take me to the airport so she asked me to drop the car off at the airport.
6. I decide to take car to the airport and she asks if I can give a girl who is sitting in the lobby of their office a ride to the airport. So now, the rental clerk is asking me if I can give a young woman who I do not know a ride to the airport. She was putting this young woman at risk because she is asking a stranger to giver her a ride. All because they didn't have a driver to run their shuttle.
7. I did give the young woman a ride and she ended up being on my flight.
8. Returned the car to airport and nobody even looks at it to inspect for damage of any kind or if I brought it back with a full tank of gas.
This is the worst rental car experience I've ever had!
Thrifty doesn't honor your Kayak terms of serviceVentajas: Nothing!Desventajas: Thrifty refused to honor insurance purchased through Kayak and refused to take my husband's credit card or my debit card. Without a credit card in my name, they wanted to run a credit check and charge me for ADDITIONAL insurance on top of the insurance I purchased through here.
Kayak should check to be sure the rental places they do business with will HONOR their contract.
