The comedic value of listening to drunks yell at eachother outside in the street. The sink (no bathroom) was a nice touch. The place was actually clean enough.
When you arrive to check in, you're asked to sign an agreement that says you will not engage in violent behavior. Seems like that would be a given in any lodging arrangement outside of a prison or halfway house. That set the tone for our one night stay.I would recommend this hotel ONLY for confident, young single traveler who has experience in adventure tourism. Although, you could save money and stay in a hostel instead. Don't bring your family here. If you're out hitting the North Beach clubs, and you just want a place to sleep after last call -- maybe this will work. But bring ear plugs.
Fantastic location right in the heart of arguably San Francisco's best confluence of neighborhoods and communities . Was able to book a room the night wore when everything else even air bnb was booked up. Place was way nicer than a one star!
Wish it validated parking but no nothing major. If you're young or on the adventurous side this place is for you, it's perfectly clean and safe but not your traditional hotel, expect to hear and see your neighbors, but I myself spent the night with a female here and she loved it, we pretended we were at the Chelsea hotel and Bob Dylan was staying next door playig his guitar on his bed! The location is unbeatable and a 24 hr door man makes it so easy to come and go. The bathrooms were super clean and functional the building itself is old and full of character but the rooms and facilities are completely updated, I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. though a bit pricey for the busget hotelier like myself I doubt I'...
The location was close to a lot of bakeries and a couple of restaurants. The single rooms were pretty snug and compact, but maintained the basic features such as bed, tv, mini-fridge, drawer, etc.
The smell was pretty bad when entering the hallways. It made me feel a bit sick. In the room I was in, the curtain was kinda beat up, which made personal privacy a bit hard to take care of.I would give it around a 7.5 out of 10. For a days worth, the staffs that I met were pretty nice and informative. They pointed out to me where some alright food places were, since I wasn't from around there. The overall hotel was satisfactory for what I needed. For someone staying longer, I don't think it would be worth it. The condition of the hotel is just satisfactory, so someone who wants a decent place, I would not recommend this place, unless they aren't so picky about the condition.
Location is close to Pier 39.
Room is very small. No private restroom. On the 4th floor, there are 50-60 rooms, but only 6 public restrooms.Just a place to sleep. Not sure if there are some other better choices.
The staff was accommodating.
You could not go barefooted, even on the floor where rented the roomThis hotel is economic, which is the best part. Staff is accomoting. Know the blankets seemed a little warn and rooms were small. Also be aware you do not have a private bathroom but must use a common one - about 1 bathroom for every 4-5 guest. Not a problem, unless you are trying to get ready for a date.
There was nothing I didn't need. Firm bed, extra pillows, good towels, adequate closet space, roomy fridge and a microwave. Helpful staff. Everything immaculate.
It was exactly what I needed. This is not a glamorous resort destimation. It's an old, restored hotel right smack in the center of things--a few walkable blocks from the financial district. You often see old Victorian places like this and they are squalid, but North Beach has new owners who have painted every surface, repaired or replaced every splintered bit of paneling, and replaced all fixtures and carpeting with new.I had work to do, interviews to make, and people to meet. The shower was great, the toilets (at the end of the hall) were new, and there were adequate, accessible power outlets in the room for all my electronic equipment. And a computer desk as well as extra pillows so I could sit and work on the bed in comfort. My room was quiet because it looked out onto a light well. But ...
