Tallinn, Estonia's capital city on the Baltic Sea, is now enjoying something of a renaissance. Unknown to most of the western world during its recent communist past, Tallinn is fast becoming a popular tourist destination. The well-preserved Old Town, with its medieval churches and city wall, is the city's most popular attraction. But Peter the Great's baroque Kadriorg Palace also attracts large numbers of visitors. Tallinn might be considered to have a limited nightlife, but its variety of restaurants is considered to be comparable to the rest of Europe. Its hotels are also modern, offering amenities like internet access.
