Located along the Susquehanna River, Harrisburg is the capital of Pennsylvania. It is believed that the area was intitally inhabited by Native Americans since 3000 B.C. with the first European contact having been made by Captain John Smith in 1608. Interesting places to visit are the National Civil War Museum, the only one of its kind in the nation; the State Museum of Pennsylvania with interactive exhibits all about the state, and the Whitaker Center for Science and Arts, another great place with interactive exhibits that combines a unique blending of science and art. Naturally, while visiting the area, it would be a shame not to satisfy that sweet craving and check out everything that Hershey has to offer including Hershey Chocolate World, Hershey Gardens, and Hershey Park.
