Of all the German cities that witnessed devastation during the war, none came off worse than Dresden. Signs of rebuilding still exist, yet Dresden has no problem attracting visitors, who are captivated by such sights as Zwinger and the Albertinum. Opera and architecture buffs appreciate Dresden's Semperoper, a world-renowned opera venue. But perhaps the most significant symbol of Dresden's rebirth is the Frauenkirche, which was reconsecrated in 2005 to worldwide acclaim. Dresden also offers international culinary delights and a variety of nightlife to satisfy every taste. Despite its tragic past, Dresden has regained most of its former glory.
